Welcome to LifeLet. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LifeLet mobile application ("App"), the website at https://lifelet.app ("Website"), and all related services, features, and content (collectively, the "Service") provided by LifeLet ("we," "us," or "our").

By creating an account, downloading, installing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms.

By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements described above and that the information you provide during registration is accurate, current, and complete.

2. Account Registration

2.1 Creating an Account

To access the Service, you must create an account using one of the following methods:

Email and password
Google Sign-In
Apple Sign-In (iOS only)

2.2 Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
All activities that occur under your account
Notifying us immediately of any unauthorised access or use of your account
Ensuring that your account information remains accurate and up-to-date

We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to safeguard your account credentials.

2.3 One Account Per Person

Each individual may create only one account. We reserve the right to terminate duplicate or fraudulent accounts.

3. Description of the Service

LifeLet is an AI-powered personal journaling application that allows you to:

Write Journal Entries: Record daily thoughts, experiences, and reflections with mood tagging and emotion tracking
Chat with Kira: Interact with an AI companion named "Kira" through text-based conversations
Voice Calls with Kira: Engage in real-time voice conversations with Kira (available on select subscription tiers)
Generate Life Books: Transform journal entries into formatted books with customisable covers and themes
Create Time Capsules: Write messages to your future self with scheduled unlock dates
View Wrapped Reviews: Access monthly and yearly summaries of your journaling activity, mood trends, and insights
Track Moods: Monitor emotional patterns and view mood trend analytics
Search Journals: Search across your journal entries by keyword, mood, time period, or topic
Receive Notifications: Get reminders, daily notes from Kira, and updates on your content

4. Subscription Plans and Billing

4.1 Subscription Tiers

The Service offers the following subscription tiers:

4.2 Billing and Auto-Renewal

Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store via our payment processing partner, RevenueCat. By subscribing, you agree that:

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
Your payment method will be charged at the start of each renewal period at the then-current subscription price
Price changes will be communicated in advance, and your continued use after such notice constitutes acceptance

4.3 Free Trial

We may offer a free trial period for paid tiers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription, and your payment method will be charged.

4.4 Managing and Cancelling Subscriptions

You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through:

iOS: Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions
Android: Google Play Store > Subscriptions

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will continue to have access to paid features until the subscription expires. No partial refunds are issued for unused portions of a billing period.

4.5 Refunds

Refund requests are subject to the policies of Apple or Google, depending on your platform. We do not directly process refunds. Please contact Apple Support or Google Play Support for refund inquiries.

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create, upload, or submit through the Service, including but not limited to journal entries, chat messages, voice recordings, time capsule messages, profile photos, and any other user-generated content ("User Content").

5.2 Licence Grant

By submitting User Content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, display, reproduce, and transmit your User Content solely for the purpose of providing, maintaining, and improving the Service. This licence includes the right to:

Store your content on our servers and cloud infrastructure
Process your content through our AI systems to generate responses, books, summaries, and insights
Display your content back to you within the App
Create backups of your content for data integrity purposes

This licence terminates when you delete your content or your account, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (such as backup copies that are automatically purged).

5.3 Responsibility for Content

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:

You own or have the necessary rights to submit the content
Your content does not infringe any third party's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
Your content does not violate any applicable law or regulation

6. AI-Generated Content

6.1 Nature of AI Content

The Service uses artificial intelligence to power various features, including Kira (the AI companion), book generation, journal summaries, mood analysis, and Wrapped reviews. You acknowledge and agree that:

AI-generated responses and content are produced by automated systems and do not constitute professional advice of any kind, including medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal, or financial advice
AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, errors, or inappropriate responses
You should not rely on AI-generated content as a substitute for professional guidance or care
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or suitability of any AI-generated content

6.2 Kira Is Not a Therapist

Kira is an AI companion designed for personal reflection and journaling support. Kira is not a licensed therapist, counsellor, or healthcare professional. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, suicidal thoughts, or any medical emergency, please contact your local emergency services or a qualified mental health professional immediately.

6.3 AI Models and Third-Party Processing

AI features are powered by third-party AI models hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS Bedrock) and ElevenLabs. Your content submitted to AI features may be processed by these services in accordance with their respective data handling policies. We do not use your personal journal content to train general-purpose AI models.

7. Voice Calls

The voice call feature allows real-time spoken conversations with Kira. By using this feature, you acknowledge and consent to the following:

Your speech is captured via your device's microphone and transmitted to our servers and third-party voice processing services (ElevenLabs and LiveKit) for real-time processing
A text transcript of the conversation is generated and stored in your account
Voice data is processed in real time and is not stored as audio recordings after the call ends
Transcripts are retained as part of your account data and are subject to our Privacy Policy
You must grant microphone permission on your device to use this feature

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party rights
Upload or transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems and networks
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access or interact with the Service
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
Use the Service to harm, exploit, or endanger minors in any way
Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation
Attempt to manipulate, abuse, or exploit the AI features in ways that could generate harmful content
Use the Service for any commercial purpose without our express written consent

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Our Property

The Service, including its design, features, functionality, source code, graphics, logos, trademarks ("LifeLet," "Kira"), user interface, and all other non-user content, is owned by us and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written consent.

9.2 Feedback

If you provide us with feedback, suggestions, or ideas, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, modify, and incorporate such feedback without any obligation or compensation to you.

10. Push Notifications

The Service may send push notifications to your device for journaling reminders, daily notes from Kira, Wrapped availability, capsule unlock reminders, and other updates. You can manage notification permissions at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications may limit certain features of the Service.

11. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services to deliver its features. These include, but are not limited to:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, push notifications, analytics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, remote configuration
Amazon Web Services (AWS) — database storage (DynamoDB), AI model hosting (Bedrock), file storage (S3), content delivery (CloudFront), text-to-speech (Polly), speech-to-text (Transcribe)
ElevenLabs — conversational AI voice processing for voice calls with Kira
LiveKit — real-time voice communication infrastructure (WebRTC)
RevenueCat — subscription and in-app purchase management
Google Sign-In — OAuth authentication
Apple Sign-In — OAuth authentication (iOS)

Your use of the Service is also subject to the terms and privacy policies of these third-party providers. We are not responsible for the practices or policies of any third-party service.

12. Account Termination

12.1 Termination by You

You may delete your account at any time through the Profile section in the App. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Upon deletion:

Your account and authentication credentials are permanently removed
All your data, including journal entries, chat history, voice call transcripts, books, time capsules, and profile information, is permanently deleted from our active database
Active subscriptions are not automatically cancelled upon account deletion — you must cancel your subscription separately through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store before deleting your account

12.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if:

You violate these Terms
You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
Your use poses a risk to other users, the Service, or third parties
Required by law or legal process

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your licence to use the Service is immediately revoked. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including but not limited to intellectual property, limitation of liability, disclaimers, and governing law.

13. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
WARRANTIES THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR HARMFUL COMPONENTS
WARRANTIES REGARDING THE ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF ANY AI-GENERATED CONTENT

We do not warrant that the Service will meet your specific requirements or expectations. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.

14. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, loss of goodwill, or emotional distress, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars (USD $50).

These limitations apply regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, strict liability, or otherwise).

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless LifeLet, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:

Your use of the Service
Your User Content
Your violation of these Terms
Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights

16. Modifications to the Service

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We may also add, change, or remove features, impose limits on certain features, or restrict access to parts of the Service. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
Notify you through the App, by push notification, or by email

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you must stop using the Service and delete your account.

18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and LifeLet regarding the Service. These Terms supersede all prior or contemporaneous communications, proposals, and agreements, whether oral or written, between you and LifeLet.
