This processing is necessary to generate personalised responses, book content, memory extraction, and mood analysis. We do not use your personal content to train general-purpose AI models. Your data is processed only to generate responses for your specific use.

3.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, legal process, government request, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to:

  • Comply with applicable laws or legal proceedings
  • Protect the safety, rights, or property of LifeLet, our users, or the public

3.4 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have regarding your information.

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored on servers operated by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Our primary infrastructure is hosted in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) region (ap-south-1). Some data may be processed in other AWS regions as required by specific services (such as AI model availability).

Firebase services (authentication, analytics, crashlytics, messaging) store data on Google Cloud infrastructure, which may be located in various global regions.

4.2 Security Measures

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit using TLS/HTTPS
  • Firebase Authentication with secure token-based authentication (JWT)
  • Access controls and authentication requirements for all API endpoints
  • Secure storage of passwords by Firebase (we never store passwords directly)
  • Server-side validation and authorisation checks for all data access

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

4.3 International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States (where AWS, Google, ElevenLabs, and RevenueCat operate) and India (where our servers are hosted). By using the Service, you consent to these transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. Specific retention periods:

  • Account and profile data: Retained until you delete your account
  • Journal entries, chat messages, voice transcripts, books, and time capsules: Retained until you individually delete them or delete your account
  • Analytics and usage data: Retained in accordance with Firebase's data retention policies (typically up to 14 months for Google Analytics)
  • Crash reports: Retained in accordance with Firebase Crashlytics retention policies (typically 90 days)
  • Push notification tokens: Retained until you delete your account or the token is refreshed by your device
  • Subscription data: Retained for the duration of your subscription and as required for billing and tax records

After account deletion, we permanently remove your data from our active databases. Residual copies in automated backups may persist for a limited period before being overwritten, but are not accessible or used for any purpose.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

6.1 Access and Review

You can access and review your personal information at any time through the App, including your profile data, journal entries, chat history, books, and time capsules.

6.2 Correction

You can update or correct your profile information (name, email, bio, photo, phone number, date of birth, location) through the Profile section of the App.

6.3 Deletion

You can:

  • Delete individual journal entries, chat conversations, and time capsules from within the App
  • Delete your entire account and all associated data through the Profile section. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. This action removes your account from Firebase Authentication and permanently deletes all your data from our database

6.4 Notification Preferences

You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your device's system settings. Disabling notifications may affect certain features such as journaling reminders and capsule unlock alerts.

6.5 Subscription Management

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store settings on your device.

6.6 Withdraw Consent

Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your device permissions (camera, microphone, photo library, notifications) or by deleting your account. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing performed prior to withdrawal.

6.7 Data Portability

You may request a copy of your personal data in a portable format by contacting us at support@lifelet.app. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

6.8 Complaints

If you believe your privacy rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Device Permissions

The App may request the following device permissions. Each permission is optional and requested only when you use the associated feature:

Permission Purpose When Requested
Camera Take photos to add to journal entries or set as your profile picture When you tap the camera option for photo capture

Push Notifications Receive journaling reminders, daily notes, capsule unlock alerts, and other updates During initial app setup or first notification-related action

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device's settings. Revoking a permission will disable the associated feature but will not affect other parts of the Service.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@lifelet.app, and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

Users between the ages of 13 and 18 may use the Service with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.

9. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The App does not use browser cookies. However, our Website (https://lifelet.app) may use standard web technologies such as cookies and local storage for basic functionality.

Within the App, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics use device identifiers and instance IDs to track usage events and crash reports. These are not used for cross-app advertising or sold to third parties.

10. Do Not Track

The App does not respond to "Do Not Track" signals from web browsers, as the App is a native mobile application. You can limit analytics collection by adjusting your device's advertising and analytics settings.

11. Sensitive Data

The Service collects and processes inherently sensitive data, including:

  • Emotional and mood data: Your mood selections, emotion tags on journal entries, and AI-generated mood analysis
  • Personal reflections: The content of your journal entries and chat messages, which may include deeply personal thoughts, feelings, and experiences
  • Voice recordings: Audio data captured during voice calls (processed in real time, not stored as audio files)

We recognise the deeply personal nature of this data and treat it with the highest level of care and protection. This data is used solely to provide and improve the Service for you and is never shared for advertising or marketing purposes.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes:

  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
  • We will notify you through the App, by push notification, or by email
  • We may ask for your renewed consent where required by law

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the updated policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
